FISHES: PLEASANTLY DISTURBING

These compositions center on dense piles of fish — images that feel at once chaotic and intimate. This recurring imagery explores the tensions between beauty and discomfort, humor and unease, and an undercurrent of claustrophobia. Inspired by his culinary background, Ben is drawn to the raw. Many people don’t want to see “how the sausage is made”... but the transformation from a once-living thing to a plated dish reveals a grim beauty. These paintings hold that same contradiction.
